On the Saturday before Thanksgiving, Project MANA helps hundreds of local families have a happy, healthy Thanksgiving through its annual Let’s Talk Turkey Food Distribution. With the help of dozens of social service agencies, schools and churches throughout North Lake Tahoe and Truckee, Project MANA is working to identify as many community members as possible who need assistance with providing a hearty Thanksgiving meal for their families. In 2011, nearly 700 local families received turkeys through Project MANA’s Let’s Talk Turkey Food Distribution. This year, given the continued economic downturn, Project MANA expects to serve that many families, if not more. Thanks to generous donations from the community, each community member who signs up and attends the distribution will be able to bring home a whole turkey, fresh produce and other fixings for a holiday meal. Let’s Talk Turkey Food Distributions will be held at the following three locations from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM on November 17th, 2012:
To sign up yourself or someone you know to receive a turkey, contact your local schools, churches, or social service agencies. Stone Soup *Seasonal Stone Soup is a celebration of food and community.
