North Lake Tahoe Bonanza:  Forget the bake sales and the car washes, there is a more fun way to raise money for the schools.

Golfers participating in the Golf Fore Education tournament this weekend will be attending, but non golfers and any community members are invited.

The "South of the Border" cocktail party Saturday at Sierra Nevada College's Patterson Hall will be offering a great party, and a way to raise money for the Incline Schools Academic Education Foundation.

The cocktail party, with a distinctly south of the border flair, will be from 6 to 9 p.m. and include a silent and live auction, door prizes, entertainment and food.

The community's new cultural dance group will be performing under its new name, the Incline Village Dance Group.

Auction items are on a grand scale and include an Arnie Pass to the Championship and Mountain golf courses, 6 nights/5 days at one of Hawaii's Marriott resorts, season ski pass at Diamond Peak, signed posters from Clint Eastwood, and a snowcat adventure with wine and fine dining, to name just a few.

There is also a unique approach to helping the schools with "Fund a Need."

When people donate to ISAEF, they know the money is going toward the organization, but they don't know how the schools will be using the funding. Fund a Need allows a donor to choose an actual need from the schools and supply the money for it, said George LeBard, director of Project MANA and an organizer of the Golf Fore Education tournament.

"We identified some things from what the schools say they need. This is their costs and that's where you're money will go," LeBard said.

The entry fee for the South of the Border is $25, and all proceeds go toward supporting ISAEF's programs. The party is included in the golf package, but anyone else is welcome to attend by paying at the door.
